Kruger National Park - home of the "Big Five"

Animal Count: impalas, springbok, hippos, giraffes, wildebeest, elephants, kudus, waterbucks, rhinos (white), monkeys

Our breakfast ladies sent us off with a song and dance (sorry about the production values, I didn't have time to do anything but press the 'on' button.)

Africa's Big Five are: elephants, rhinos (black), lions, leopards and cape buffalo.

Today we saw 1.5 of them (wrong kind of hippo) but I couldn't be more thrilled if you poured a whole zooload of big fives at me.  The best was pulling up to a lake to see hippos lazing on one bank, and a herd of elephants wandering down on the opposite bank.  Birds of all hue and cry nested and rested everywhere, and it felt like we were in a National Geographic story.

those things that look like grey rocks on the left are a family of hippos
and those things that look like grey elepants are a herd of elepants
